Project Overview

Located on the busy Kennington Road in South London, St Anselm Vicarage serves as a residence for clergy under the Church of England. Due to the high traffic volume in the area and the challenges of maintaining a comfortable internal environment in a traditional building, the Church of England sought an effective solution to reduce external noise while improving thermal insulation.

Challenges

Constant road noise from Kennington Road
Single-glazed primary windows offering poor thermal performance
Preservation of the building’s external aesthetic
A need for unobtrusive, reversible improvement suitable for a period property
Our Solution

We installed 9 bespoke Tilt Balanced Vertical Slider secondary glazing units across the property. These units are designed to mirror the functionality and appearance of traditional sash windows while offering modern performance benefits.

Key Features:

Noise Reduction: The use of 4.0mm Toughened Low-E Glass significantly reduced external traffic noise, creating a quieter living environment.
Energy Efficiency: Low-E coating on the glass reflects radiant heat back into the room, enhancing insulation and contributing to lower heating costs.
Ease of Use: The Tilt Balanced Vertical Sliders provide smooth, effortless operation and allow for easy cleaning and ventilation.
Discreet Appearance: The frames were finished in Signal White (RAL 9003) Satin, ensuring a clean, subtle appearance that complements the building’s interior without disrupting the heritage aesthetics.
Outcome

The installation resulted in a marked improvement in acoustic insulation and energy efficiency. The vicarage is now noticeably quieter and more comfortable, with reduced drafts and heat loss. The solution provided a non-invasive upgrade that respects the architectural integrity of the building while offering modern-day benefits.

Client Feedback

“We are very pleased with the outcome. The difference in noise and warmth is remarkable, and the windows look excellent. The team was professional and considerate throughout the installation.”
