HOW IT WORKS
How Secondary Glazing Reduces Noise
Most outside noise reaches you through the glass. A second pane fitted on the inside of your existing window adds a gap of still air that sound struggles to cross, which is why the room feels calmer. The wider the gap and the heavier the glass, the better it works. We usually recommend a gap of 100mm or more with acoustic laminated glass, which can cut noise by up to 80 percent. Homes on busy roads, near railways or under flight paths notice the biggest difference.
